Fab Lab is Fab!
(Fab Lab, Seville, Spain)
Fab Lab originated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a low cost lab that lets people build things they need using digital and analog tools. Fab Lab has been implemented throughout Universities world wide from Afghanistan to Australia and Europe to the Americas and back.
“A Fab Lab (fabrication laboratory) is a fully kitted fabrication workshop which gives everyone in the community, from small children through to entrepreneurs and businesses, the capability to turn their ideas and concepts into reality.” (Neil Gershenfeld, MIT)
Instead of operating as individual entities they prefer to work as a connected world wide enterprises.
In Australia, the most local example is situated in Adelaide (Fab Lab).
